Going Shopping

Pull the handle and hear the little bell jingle as the door shuts. You greet the clerk who had been reading . . .or possibly dreaming of far off vacation spots. . .or what to do for dinner. . .or bad decisions she has made. She smiles back. You walk around and taking in all the possibilities.

Consciously you are shopping for a birthday gift for Elsa, trying to find her just the right thing that shows you care but does not break the bank. All the while in the back of your head you can’t help but already covet the gift you are about to give.
So go on, get it for yourself . . . Elsa doesn’t have to know. A really nice card would be an equally appropriate gesture. . . And come to think of it the invitation said no gifts anyway. You wouldn’t want to make everyone else look bad. . .
